Dwyane Wade buys $1.4 million Chicago townhouse2 (Whirlwind) Days In Chengdu
Posted on Aug 19
An unexpected request for me to run a training camp in Chengdu put me back on a plane to CHINA. The NBA CREW met me at the airport and immediately took me to the television station to begin interviews and coordinating the days events. Took a few moments to refresh, and then I was swept off to the mini training camp to work with the contestants for this grassroots event. At this stop, the taping will be airing on a local television broadcast. The girls will actually participate in the same judging as the CCTV SHOW, and the winners will continue to the regional finals of Chengdu next week.
I watched and critiqued the girls performing the routines which they had been working on all week as well as their solo dances. What a pleasure it was to see the girls exhibit their skills and dance their hearts out.
Then it was time for me to work with each one on their skills, their look, and their confidence. After many hours of running through the practicing for the show and helping the girls improve, it was time to get some much needed REST. But like we say in America, we don't like to go to bed on an empty stomach, so I had the opportunity to enjoy a traditional Sichuan dinner filled with so many wonderful flavors. Sichuan food is famous for its hot spicy “Tongue Numbing” dishes, and we definitely experienced them. I also had fresh watermelon juice to cool my taste in between bites, but OH, IT WAS DELICIOUS!
The next day was another early rising day in preparation for the taping of the show. The day began with many interviews, and then it was SHOWTIME.
I was judge and commentator, and also gave the girls my advice and comments after each time they performed. It is always a pleasure to see their improvements from the previous day. It was interesting to observe which girls took my suggestions to heart and really practiced. Then it was time for me to take center stage to perform my SOLO. The Lights and Crowds gave me the energy needed to do my best. At the closing of the show, 14 girls were selected from this region for the show taping. After many photos and autography signing, we went back to the hotel for a couple of hours of relaxation.
It was a beautiful evening. We strolled around the city, and I have to mention, The BULLS are well represented in Chengdu. I found a small sports store that had a BULLS JERSEY in the window. I actually did not have to take a second look to see the number on the jersey. It was none other than the GREAT MICHAEL JORDAN # 23. He still reigns KING!
What a wonderful trip. Two (Whirlwind) Days In Chengdu, then back to Hong Kong. In just three days I will be boarding another plane back to Chengdu. I have already been informed that my schedule will be filled with special appearances and special performances for many events plus the show taping. Oh, yes the typoon hit many coasts this past week end, but I was fortunate to be much further inland. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that were affected by the typhoon.
Signing Off For Now.
Until Next Time,
SHANON
