LAS VEGAS — The Denver Nuggets (4-0) were firing on all cylinders in their fourth game of the 2010 NBA Summer League on the campus of the University of Nevada – Las Vegas, as they defeated the Chicago Bulls in decisive fashion, 99-71.

The Bulls (0-1) were unimpressive in their opening game of the desert classic, committing 25 turnovers that led to 35 Denver points.

Nobody could stop Ty Lawson in the first quarter of the first game of the fifth day of Summer League action, as he exploded for 13 points on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, 1-of-1 from three point land, and 4-of-4 from the stripe in the period. In addition to scoring 13 points, he dished out three assists, including an alley-oop to Richard Roby with 1:44 to play in the period. The bucket was in the middle of a Nuggets’ 13-4 run, en route to an 28-18 advantage at the end of the stanza.

Lawson didn’t play in the second, but his Nuggets caught his hot hand, with Laurence Ekperigin coming off the bench to score a quick 10 points in the quarter as part of Denver’s 23-7 run that lasted until the final minutes of the half. At the end of the two, Denver owned a 54-30 advantage, shooting an impressive 70 percent from the floor.

The Nuggets didn’t let half time break their rhythm, outscoring the Bulls 27-14 in the third quarter, and extending their lead to as many as 41 points before settling for an 81-44 advantage at the end of three.

The Bulls successfully outscored Denver in the fourth quarter, 27-18, but the deficit was too great to overcome.

Denver completes their Summer League schedule tomorrow, when the team takes on the Houston Rockets at 1:00 p.m. PT at COX Pavilion, while the Bulls look to rebound from the loss in the team’s second game in Las Vegas when they face the L.A. Clippers at 5:00 p.m. PT.
